This week, Jinx welcomes Ben Rock to the show. As the production designer for 1999’s The Blair Witch Project, Mr. Rock designed the iconic stick man figure for that modern horror classic. In addition, Mr. Rock has also directed the 2008 sci-fi horror film Alien Raiders, and co-created and directed the hilariously twisted online anthology series “20 Seconds to Live.” And for his choice of film, he’s brought John Carpenter’s The Thing to chat about this week.
A critical and commercial disappointment upon its original release in 1982, The Thing has since found its audience and place in Carpenter’s filmography as one of his very best offerings. Along the way, the conversation touches on the film’s ambiguous ending, the 2011 prequel, the other entries in Carpenter’s “Apocalypse Trilogy”, and what the most effective sequence in the film might possibly be.
It’s a fun chat with an fantastic guest, and one we hope you’ll enjoy!
